How to create a pie chart on Google Sheets web and Android

If you are looking for a free way to complete your assignments, those days are gone, when you had to stick to Microsoft office, as Google Drive Suite has evolved a lot. You get almost all the features of Microsoft Office with Google Docs, Sheets, etc., and all that totally for free, if you are not looking for some advanced features that are paid. One thing that most Google Sheets users will need is, how to create a pie chart on Google Sheets, and I am here with a small guide to that today, on InkedFreedom.

So, without any further delay, let’s get started with how you can create any type of pie chart on Google Sheets, which is Google’s alternative to Microsoft Excel.

How to create a pie chart in Google Sheets

Open a specific sheet on Google Docs, where you want to create a pie chart, or create a new sheet, and add some data to create the pie chart.

Once you are done, click on the ‘Insert’ menu, and then click on ‘Chart’.

Now, depending upon the data in the sheet, you can sometimes get a ready-to-use pie chart. If that is all right, you can start customizing it, which I have discussed in the next part. Else, click on the drop-down menu corresponding to ‘Chart type’, under ‘Setup’ on the right, and then select a style under the ‘Pie’ sub-category.

In the next step, you have to choose the fields containing the values.

As the example goes here, I have created a list of 6 items, and the percentage of their sales. So, to create the labels, I have to select the column that contains the product names. This can be different in your case. Just click on ‘Add Label’, and then select the cells containing the product names. Finally, click ‘OK’.

In the next step, click on the text box that says ‘Add Value’, and then select the cells containing the values. Finally, click ‘OK’.

Your pie chart should be ready now.

How to customize a pie chart in Google Sheets

Now that the chart is ready, you can customize it by going to the ‘Customize’ tab.

You can change the chart style, i.e., whether you want a 2D or a 3D chart, border color, font style, colors, Donut hole area, etc, You can also add a heading or title to the chart, and customize every single slice, or item within the chart.

All the customization options can help you achieve your exact needs for which you have created the pie chart. As there are several customization options, I am not elaborating on each of them. You can explore all the customization options to find out exactly what you need. The customization options are far more than those available in other popular spreadsheet apps and services.

Both pie chart creation and customization options are similar on the Google Sheets mobile app, as well.

So, that was all about, how you can create and customize a pie chart on Google Sheets web and on the Android app.
