Google Chrome is currently the most popular web browser for both mobiles devices and computers, thanks to the ton of features it has to offer. On opening the web browser to start a browsing session, you will get a new tab page offering access to the Chrome apps, the most visited websites, along with a much-needed search bar to cruise through the web using Google. That’s why most people do not need to tweak the Google Chrome homepage as the available options are more than sufficient.
However, that doesn’t mean, you can’t set up a custom homepage on Google Chrome. How to set a homepage on Chrome browser?
Let’s first talk about how to set the homepage on Chrome for PC.
How to set up a homepage on Chrome for Windows/PC?
Step 1: Open the Google Chrome web browser on your PC, click on the triple-dot icon on the top-right corner of the UI, and head to ‘Settings’.
Step 2: Now on the left side of the ‘Settings’ page, click ‘Appearance’. Make sure, the ‘Show home button’ option is enabled.
By default, the ‘New Tab page’ will be marked. Just click on the option below that one, to enter a custom URL. Now you have to type in the address that will be the new Chrome homepage URL.
After you are done entering the new address, the new homepage is now set.
To get back to Chrome’s default homepage, select ‘New Tab page’ from the settings.
How to set a homepage on Chrome for Android?
The method to set homepage on Chrome for Android is even easier. So, let’s explore how to set the homepage on the Chrome app for Android.
Step1: Simply open the Chrome app on your Android, and long tap on the home button on the top-left corner of the UI, and then tap on ‘Edit homepage’.
Step 2: By default, ‘Chrome’s homepage’ will be selected. Just tap on the option below that, and type in the URL of the new homepage, exactly the way you put it in your address bar. Now you have set the homepage on Chrome Android.
In this case, as well, make sure, the homepage option is turned on. Select ‘Chrome’s homepage’ again to see the default Chrome page.
How to set Google as the homepage on Chrome?
Now that you know how to set a Google Chrome homepage, you might need to find a way to set Google as the homepage to quickly access all the Google services, if you use them often.
The process is simple. Just use ‘www.google.com’ as the URL, and Google’s homepage is now the homepage on your Chrome web browser.
*One thing to note here is, every time you open a new Chrome tab, it will not open the homepage that you set. You have to use the ‘Home’ button explicitly to open the web address set as your homepage.
