How to delete Chrome history, and delete elements from Chrome history


As most of our work is shifting to the cloud these days, a web browser is gradually turning out to be one of the most-used programs on our PC and smartphone. But what if your favorite browser starts acting up! 

There can be several reasons, why your web browser can malfunction, but most of them can be fixed by simply clearing the browsing history, cache, etc. Most of us use Google Chrome to cruise online, and today I will talk about how to delete Chrome history, and go online without any issues.

So, without any further delay, let’s get started with the solution.

How to delete Chrome history and cache on a PC?

By clearing Chrome browser history, websites that used to behave weird will begin functioning smoothly. Furthermore, if you are a developer, you can also see how your website will function when somebody visits it first after you delete your Chrome browsing history on your browser.

After you open Google Chrome, press ‘Ctrl+Shift+Delete’ to begin clearing Chrome browser history.

Now, the first thing to choose is the time range of deleting Chrome browsing history. For example, if you choose ‘Last hour’, all the selected data that your Chrome browser has, since the last hour, will be cleared. Similarly, you have to choose the interval from the drop-down menu. If you are not sure, simply go with ‘All time’ from the ‘Time range’ drop-down menu.

In the next step, you have to choose the elements for clearing Chrome browser history. Here, you can choose other browsing elements like cookies and other site data, cached images and files, etc. After that, click on ‘Clear data’.


However, if your problems are still not fixed, you can click on the ‘Advanced’ tab, and delete other elements like passwords, autofill data, site settings, app data, etc., and again click on ‘Clear data’.


In both cases, the process might take some time, depending upon the time range, and the browsing elements that you want to delete.

But, you can also use the ‘Ctrl+H’ hotkey to open Chrome browsing history. Here, you can find all the web pages that you have visited, since the time you started using Chrome on your computer.

Here, you can select specified elements to delete from Chrome history. Simply select the elements, and click on ‘Delete’


By clearing Chrome browser history and other elements this way, the elements are just getting cleared from the local storage. The browsing history will still be there on the Google servers. Here’s how to delete Chrome history from Google too.

How to delete from Chrome history on the web?

It is also possible to delete from Chrome history. It means you can select the individual web pages that you have visited, from the Chrome history. To do that permanently, visit ‘myactivity.google.com’.

Here, you can use the drop-down menu corresponding to ‘Filter by date & product’ to choose the time range to delete Chrome browsing history. You can also click on the ‘Delete’ button to delete Chrome history since the interval chosen by you.


You can also click on the small cross (X) button to delete those elements from Chrome history.



If you delete from Chrome history this way, they are getting deleted from your activity log on Google. You can never get all these deleted browsing history back.

However, if you want to delete Chrome browsing history, in the case your web browser is malfunctioning, I will not recommend clearing Chrome browser history from Google, unless that is the only option available.
