Facebook is a nice place to visit. May it be knowing what’s happening around the world, or some fun videos after returning from work! We all love sharing things, however, there are several things that we don’t want to share on the platform. We all need some personal space.
Talking about personal space, most of us don’t want others, or other people on Facebook to know, who we interact with, and hence hide the friend list from others, or at least from specific people. So, today I will talk about how to hide friend list on Facebook, which I have been doing for years now.

Depending upon the platform you are on, the process of hiding the friend list will vary, and I will talk about each platform one by one.
How to hide friend list on Facebook on the web?
Log in to your Facebook account on a PC web browser, and open your friend list. If you don’t know how to do that, click on your profile name, and then click on ‘Friends’. The list of friends will be right there.
Once you are there, click on the triple-dot icon that is in line with the ‘Friends’ row, and click on ‘Edit Privacy’.
Now, click on the drop-down icon corresponding to ‘Friends list’ and then choose ‘Only me’. That will hide the friend list from everybody,
There are other options too. You can click on ‘Specific friends’, and choose the friends who can see your friend list. You can also go with other options like ‘Public’, to make your friend list visible to everybody, ‘Friends’, to make your Facebook friend list visible to friends, ‘Friends except…’, to hide your Facebook friend list from a group, or select a custom list of friends you have created earlier.
How to hide friend list in Facebook app?
Well, if you mostly use Facebook on the Facebook app, the process to hide friend list in Facebook app involves a few more steps. But don’t worry, I am here with the solution. To hide friend list on Facebook app, tap on the hamburger icon (icon with three horizontal lines) on the top right corner of the UI, and then tap on the settings cog.
The ‘Settings & Privacy’ dashboard will open up. Scroll down to tap on ‘How People Find and Contact You’ under ‘Audience and Visibility’.
In the final step, tap on ‘Who can see your friends list?’ Here, you can find similar options to make your friend list visible to a certain group of people, or simply ‘Only me’ to hide friend list in Facebook from everybody else. You can configure this the same way I discussed, hot to hide friend list on Facebook web.
So, it is that simple to hide friend list on Facebook. This is a must-do if you don’t want others to find out who you contact. If you hide your friend list on Facebook, others will not find you as a mutual friend if they visit somebody’s profile, who has you on his or her friend list.
