How to create a bootable flash drive with Chrome OS Flex. Step-by-step guide

Computers and laptops can get old sooner than you might think, and your experience will become inferior over time. While you can easily get a new work laptop with lucrative No-cost EMI options these days, your old laptop isn’t always old enough to be thrown into the trash. If your old system is running sluggish, and thus, isn’t efficient enough for a new version of Windows like Windows 10 or Windows 11, there’s still some hope.

With Chrome OS Flex that can run smoothly on very-low specs, you can do most tasks on your computer, as long as you have a good Wi-Fi network at your home or office. With Chrome OS Flex, you can turn your old PC into a Chromebook with minimal limitations. Chrome OS Flex is a custom version of Chrome OS capable of running on most regular PCs with x86 architecture.

So today on InkedFreedom, I will talk about how to create a bootable USB drive to get started with installing Chrome OS Flex on your old computer. Before you get started, here are the things that you will need.

Step 7: The process will take some time, and once it is complete, click on 'Done'. To make the process faster, use a flash drive that supports USB 3 speeds, and connect the drive to a USB 3 port.

The flash drive is ready. Now connect the flash drive to the desktop or laptop where you want to install Chrome OS Flex. Boot from USB and you are ready to both install Chrome OS Flex or try it on your system.

With Chrome OS Flex, you can watch shows, check emails, do some basic office work with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc., or use some online services to get your work done. Hope Google adds the ability to run full-fledged Android apps on Chrome OS Flex as that could easily break the limits of productivity for a bunch of users.
