The only requirement for this is to have a YouTube premium account, which you might already have if you groove on this platform.

How to download YouTube Music to listen offline on Android?

Open YouTube Music on your Android phone, and long tap on any playlist, mix, mashup or song, and tap on ‘Download’.

How to download songs and playlists on YouTube Music that you searched for?

If you are looking for a specific song on YouTube Music, and want to download it to listen offline, simply search for the song using the search button.

Now, long tap on any of the search results or the triple-dot icon and tap on the ‘Download’ button.

How to download a song that is playing now?

If you are listening to a song, and you want to download it, you can download that song too. Simply tap on the triple-tap icon, and then tap on ‘Download’.

Alternatively, you can also tap on the album art, and then tap on the ‘Download’ icon.

So, that’s how to download YouTube Music to listen offline. Now that you know how to download songs on YouTube Music, you should also know where to find the songs when you want to listen to them.

How to find downloaded songs on YouTube Music?

Now that you have downloaded the songs, you can simply tap on the ‘Library’ tab, and then tap on ‘Downloads’.

Here you can find all the downloaded songs, and you can listen to them anytime, or when you are offline.

You can’t listen to the songs that you have downloaded on YouTube Music on any local music player or other apps. You can’t even transfer them to your portable music player, or PC or share the items with others.

YouTube Music also has the option to download songs that you will probably like, based on your listening history, and your likes.

You have to reserve a part of your internal memory to download songs.

Set YouTube Music to automatically download songs for you

To get started, tap on the ‘Library’ tab to open it, and then tap on the ‘Downloads’ option just like I discussed how to see the downloaded songs.

In the next step, on the Downloads page, tap on the settings cog on the top-right corner of the UI, just beside the profile icon.

Enable the ‘Smart downloads’ option first, and then adjust the slider to reserve any amount of space from as low as 4 MB, which could hardly accommodate 1 song, to around 2 GB, which can accommodate around 500 songs. However, this is a rough estimate and the actual number of songs will vary based on the set download and streaming settings.

After you reserve the desired amount of space, start using YouTube Music normally, and the app will automatically download the songs when you are connected to Wi-Fi, and mobile data based on your download settings.

So, that’s how to download YouTube Music to listen offline. Automatic downloads might not always satisfy your ears as YouTube recommendations still aren't the best, or rather worse than most of its competitors, but it is always better to listen to some melodies rather than complete silence.
